The film has a simple and yet compelling narrative that there are surprise in every step of the way. The progression of the story and the buildup of emotions were tastefully done, not under nor overly done. For me it has a great balance when it comes to the tone of colours, frames, angles and music. Same goes with the harmony and chemistry of the actors in every scene. Everything was well patterned, synchronized and organised

The languages the film in general is universal despite of being in Japanese languages as it tells the story about love, hope, compassion, trust and faith. It doesn’t convey anything about religion but the primal constant of every character is easy to relate with. The basic context of family relation makes the film strong as it clearly and loudly expressed the message to its audience.

The film exhibits a lot of values and lessons that for everyone could be simple and yet we tend to ignore, but film expressed how vital the simple things are in our daily life, in our relationship with the people around us, with our family, with our partner. The House Where The Mermaid Sleeps, is a heartfelt drama that would make you realize how much a parent loves their child/children that they will be willing to sacrifice everything possible for them to survive. It’s a must see movie special now that our relationship with our family are evolving due to modernization.
