This holiday season, immerse yourself in the magic of classical ballet as the Cultural Center of the Philippines collaborates with Zonta Club Metro Greenhills, Soroptimist SI Founder Manila, and Rotary Club of Makati Premiere District to proudly present the timeless masterpiece, the Nutcracker, performed by the renowned Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT). Established in 1987, PBT has become a leading force in classical ballet within the Philippines.
The Nutcracker, a beloved classic since its creation in 1995 by ballet stars Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov, has been lovingly restaged by Artistic Director Ronilo Jaynario. This rendition is set to captivate audiences with its rich storytelling and holiday cheer, featuring spicy additions to the choreography.
What sets this Nutcracker apart is its origin, created specifically for PBT, and its cast of over a hundred artists of various ages. From little ballerinas portraying angels to mother ginger dancers, party kids, dolls, and a colorful array of characters, the performance promises a visual feast. Leading the cast are Mathew Davo and Jessa Tangalin, portraying the Nutcracker Prince and Sugarplum Fairy, with Sophie Tiangco and Therese Riego making their Nutcracker debut in the role of Clara.
