On average, the Light Rail Transit or commonly known as the LRT serves an approximately 500,000 passengers daily for the Line 1 (Baclaran to Roosevelt). With that said so, LRT management especially LRMC President and CEO Juan Alfonso launched today, November 27 the Christmas Train. “Christmas is family time. This is to bring joy, hope and happiness to all commuters who are taking the LRT 1. We are also happy to continue this tradition. It’s part of our continued efforts to delight our valued passengers and give them an enjoyable experience.” CEO Alfonso said.
Together with the Ayala Corporation Chairman and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, helped launch the 3 coaches Christmas train with the theme of “Christmas in Our Homes”. A special performance inside the train was also part of the launch. We had our very own Filipino singer and songwriter, Jose Mari Chan, to serenade the passengers with his Christmas songs and also with the young carolers from the Children’s Joy Foundation Inc. “We thank our valued passengers who ride the LRT1 on a daily basis. With these Christmas themed designs, it’s our simple way of giving good riding experience and comfortable movement for the people.” CEO Jaime added.
Designs were inspired to make the commute feel like home. And according to Ms. Ana Caress Lucindo, an OFW who took the train this morning during the launch, “kahit po may mga masisikip tayong trains, tayong mga Pilipino ay nagbibigayan pa rin po. Kahit po medyo hassle, nagkakaintindihan pa rin po. Tsaka as an OFW, mararamdaman mo yung pasko na parang nasa bahay ka kapag nakasakay ka dito sa train na may ganitong design.”
Christmas themed trains will run until February next year. But wait, there’s more! These trains have an interactive game with instructions at the midpart of the coach, it’s for you to check out and get a chance to win an early present for participating!
