BOGT Philippines proudly announces that its critically acclaimed production, “13th of September,” has received its third international invitation, marking a historic achievement for Filipino theater on the global stage. After its successful appearances at festivals in Canada (2019) and Germany (2021, 2022), BOGT is set to make its highly anticipated debut at the 18th Mondial du Théâtre in Monaco, happening from August 20 to 27, 2025. This milestone marks the first time the Philippines will participate in this prestigious quadrennial festival since its inception in 1957.
About the Production – “13th of September”
“13th of September” is a powerful adaptation by three-time Palanca Award-winning playwright Eljay Castro Deldoc, reimagining Lanie Robertson’s classic play, “The Insanity of Mary Girard.” This production will feature a bold and thought-provoking staging by ALIW and LEAF award-winning director Riki Benedicto, whose works have earned acclaim and accolades internationally.
Leading the cast is acclaimed film and theater director Andoy Ranay, who will take on the challenging role of Mary Girard. He will be joined by veteran actor Lao Rodriguez and emerging theater artist Drew Espenocilla, ensuring a performance that will leave a lasting impact on audiences.
The production explores themes of empowerment, injustice, power dynamics, and mental health, resonating deeply with contemporary issues. Its narrative of resilience and the quest for truth has captivated audiences during previous international showcases at the Festival International de Théâtre de Mont-Laurier 2019 in Canada and THEATERWELTEN 2021 and 2022 in Germany.
